Gameplay Goals

There are two ways to achieve victory conditions, this can be done either through fixing the car present at the main spawn base or heading to the main base of the enemy and destroying the hive mind leading the creatures. The car is marked by the yellow square on the map and the orange squares showing where the pieces are. The enemy base is marked by the red square.

To escape via the car the player will have to go through the process of collecting all five parts scattered across the map. These parts will have to be carried back to the car and fixed into place. Carrying the parts back isn't easy and will slow down the player heavily with some parts being extremely heavy that an NPC will be needed to help carry them. Collecting these parts will leave the player exposed to attack from the creature if caught. So it will be crucial that the player figures out safer routes that will be easier to hide if an enemy is nearby. Once the car is fixed the player will be able to drive and the alive NPCs will be able to get into the car this leads into the final part of gameplay where the player will drive through the forest while all alive enemies will pursue the car and if they inflict enough damage to the car they will stop the players escape.

It was important when making these endings that I made sure that they would both be

exciting in a way that matches the play style that is needed to make them. This is seen in the car escape ending as this is the more passive way to finish the game so I wanted to make sure it feels like a frantic escape that involves the player not participating in too much combat.

The other method to win the game is through killing the main hive mind creature that controls all the other enemies in the game from a narrative perspective. There isn't a typical boss fight when taking on this enemy its more about preparing your team with supplies that will boost their mental health as heading into the area that this creature is present in will cause instant and quick loss of mental health. Along with the presents of other creatures down there if the player arrives with at least one or more npcs the creature will look at one of the characters and instantly turn them insane and hostile so the final boss of the game will be one of the npcs you've supported the most to reach this stage causing the player to feel betrayed by one of their closest teammates linking back to an area I mentioned in the essential exspirenece "The Experience I would like to capture is one related to Trust and Betrayal".
