Poem Inspiration

Ozymandias - Percy Bysshe Shelley


I met a traveller from an antique land,

Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone

Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,

Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,

And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,

Tell that its sculptor well those passions read

Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,

The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;

And on the pedestal, these words appear:

My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;

Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!

Nothing beside remains. Round the decay

Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare

The lone and level sands stretch far away.”


Based on the poem Ozymandias I tried to design a creature that fit into the Characteristic aspects the poem describe. Showing a short creature feeling proud and ruling over sitting upon debris of the old world.



Class Curation


- Ozymandias - i think this is the king from the poem

- ozymandias - Its very fantasy esc like the poem - traveller of lands

- I'm gonna guess Ozymandias. It talks of a great statue and these were usually of the Egyptian Gods and I feel like with the low lighting used and the colour pallet makes it look like it's even in one of the Pyramids.

- ozymandias because its a statue and also file name, ozymandias is about a statue in the dessert which I think this statue represents with the style

- This does link quite well to the poem, it shows the sense of hierarchy in a desolate space, giving a clear indication that the unsettling creature is above all

- i think this is ozmandias, not only because the art is named after it but you have a sense that this creature has a royal vibe to it despite its vile surroundings as described in the end of the poem.
