Week 8 - Shadow Puppet Swarm Game Idea

Shadow swarm is a 2D action-adventure game that sees the player take control of an ever-expanding group of creatures as the set forth through a fantasy world to consume as much food and alcohol as they can.


Gameplay Mechanics -

•Collect creatures for your swarm and build up your strength as you take on stronger foes and more in-depth challenges.


•Set in a Shadow puppet/silhouette like style


•Find potions throughout levels to give your creatures unique powers to take on enemies and puzzles


•Overpower enemies with the number of creatures in your swarm.

Essential experience

Shadow storm will feel quick for a 2D Platformer, with your creatures moving very fast and being able to outmaneuver your opponents. The sacrifice to this movement is that your creature will be vulnerable to multiple enemies so you will have to find unique ways to split enemies apart. The game will not see a conventual attack system instead players will move their creatures over an enemy, if there's enough gremlins, they will be able to tear apart them before they can retaliate.

Art style and Environments

The game will be set in a Gothic world to compliment the silhouette art style that was inspired by shadow puppetry. The game will see in-depth interior environments with many paths for your swarm to go through. Allowing them to sneak past enemies such as monstrous creatures and honorable knights. The game will be in entirely in muted flat colours apart from the sharp glow of the creature’s eyes in your swarm.
