Dev Log 08 - Corrupt External Hardrive

Unfortunately on Thursday the 29th of April my hard drive had stopped showing up on my computer. This hard drive included all work I had done in 3D since when I had started working with blender back in August 2019. It was extremely stupid of me not to have any of this backed up but were past that now. I have tried many methods to fix it at home all coming to no avail.

As I was heading down to my home town of Brighton that weekend anyway I decided to drop it off at a computer shop down there to be repaired called Diamond Computers. Unfortunately by the time I left to come back to uni they weren't even close to looking at my hard drive so I took it back to Winchester.

It was in Winchester that I found a store called Computer solutions which over the phone said they would fix my hard drive and fast track for over night repairs for a fee. Once I arrived and showed them my Hardrive they said it was an issue they couldn't fix and would have to be sent to a place in London which had the lab to fix it. Once inquiring about it this place they said the fee to fix it would be £400 and take a week which I just cant afford to pay and to wait another week to pick up with my work. From this point I had established the loss of my all my work including all the characters for the game and the importance of backing up files crucial for projects such as. This blog was written on the 7th of May so I have roughly two weeks till hand in so in my next post ill detail the action plan I will take to finish all these characters in time to go in the game.
